Ministry Trip to Denver 2005

Day 1 Report
Our first day on the road was uneventful. Everyone got better aquainted over the 12 hours on the road. We stopped in Des Moines, IA for our overnight rest at the Chase Inn. Kids got to cool off in the pool before the team meeting and bedtime. Tomorrow we leave bright and early for Denver!

Day 2- Arriving in Denver
We traveled all day and arrived in Denver at 7:02 pm after shooting for 7:00. Not bad, eh? After unloading, the kids took a walking/train tour of downtown Denver where something really cool happened that I will learn about at the team meeting tonight (I didn't go on the tour, but got a phone update). The kids are doing well and building good unity. Seems like they're ready for the task at hand. Ben and Kim have done such a very good job of planning and organizing the trip. Keep praying that the kids will be challenged in just the right ways, and learn more about themselves and the Lord. All safe and sound, and no great cases of homesickness (at least that we can see!). -- Dave For Day 2 Pictures, click here.

Days 3 & 4
Tuesday and Wednesday the kids spent the morning and afternoon leading Lava Lava Island VBS with neighborhood kids.  Leaders say the kids did amazingly well, handling about 50 children aged 3-12.  The kids have risen to the occasion and are doing fabulously!  Tuesday night they went for a cook-out and hike in the nearby mountains, and Wednesday night we went to Casa Bonita for dinner.  For pictures of Days 3 & 4, click here.

Days 5& 6
Thursday morning our kids finished up Vacation Bible School and did a great job.  We had the neighborhood kids divided up into groups of 5-7 and the groups traveled around to stations our kids were leading.  Ben also rigged up a sort of air compression rocket which proved to be very intriguing for our kids and theirs!  Thursday night the kids helped prepare and serve a community dinner that the church sponsors weekly.  After a long day, they finished with Dairy Queen treats.

Friday the kids worked all morning and early afternnoon on installing a lawn sprinkler system for the church's  lawns.  Everybody sweated together and in the end they had a great sprinkler system and lot of muddy shirts.  Friday evening was spent at Six Flags before our last night in Denver.  Tomorrow we pack up early for the long drive to Kansas City.

The team is really functioning as a team and learning so much about working together and supporting each other.  There are a million stories you'll hear about what individual kids have seen and experienced.  We'll save those stories for home!  For pictures, click here.
